I seem to be having a lot of flashbacks to last year lately. On Sunday I finally finished a sewing project that was started last December.
A Christmas dress for my daughter, made from what was originally an apron panel from Spotlight.
It’s made from the free downloadable Popover Sundress pattern from oliver + s . I added a panel to the bottom thinking it was going to be too short (it wouldn’t have been – it’s too long now). Considering I cut the fabric a year ago (and I was lucky that it still fitted her!), it was a really well written pattern and was very easy to pick up and carry on.
And after it’s first outing (to the kindy Santa party) I also decided to change the tie shoulders to sewn straps. It means less fiddling and itching for a 3 year old.
She asked to wear it again on Monday, and we ended up having a lovely mother-daughter morning. I get a real buzz seeing her in clothes I’ve made (the ones that worked, anyway!).
I was able to finish it easily because it was in one of my project bag ‘kits’ from last year … and there are quite a few still waiting for their turn. Funny that.
So getting a bit of sewing done at the moment. How about you?

That’s a beautiful dress … so Scandinavian!
I bet she looked the cutest at the kindy party (and that’s the most important thing!) And lovely to think you’ll be able to pass it down to the next baby daughter.
Hi Anna,
I just received one of your beautiful hankies in the mail. Carmel (above) sent it to me all the way to Canada. It is lovely.

Now I have seen the dress in more detail – I really love it! that apron fabric – very clever.
I can’t really sew, I get grandma to sew the kids clothes as she is an amazing sewer. But this was the pattern I was thinking of using to make my daughter a christmas dress. I hope I get the time, I’m all inspired now:)
