Well because the sewing stuff is all out on the dinner table, and because I know that when it gets put away again there’ll be plenty of other things to do, I stayed up late the other night and made the cushions I wanted to make for summer.
All fabric is from Ikea, and all of them have zips in the back, courtesy of this fantastically easy method very well blogged by Cintia. I will never be put off by zips again. Her method is even easier than the one I did a tutorial on last year.
So the beautiful Anna Maria Horner fabric ones from last year will be washed and put away ’til winter.
And because it was late and I was getting carried away, I decided to make a matching Christmas wreath for that corner of the house.
I was inspired by the pic my good friend MMMC posted of her nifty wreath – except I didn’t get on the computer and look at it again, so mine worked out quite differently (hers is better!).
And I didn’t have a hoop of any kind, and I didn’t have any patience, so I made one out of chopsticks and pipe cleaners. (Doesn’t everyone have a handy stash of chopsticks and pipecleaners lying around?)
I took photos all along the way, thinking how clever I was, using chopsticks and all.
And maybe it would work if you had a hot glue gun… or made a smaller size… but honestly, this thing’ll fall apart as soon as it comes down off the wall.
So I’m not touching it for at least 16 more days. And we’ll have to have a new one next year!

Fin has come home and made one out of coloured garbage bag strips and tinsel and it looks great. He used a wire clothes hanger bent open into a circle for the hoop. You didn’t need to know that did you?
The colours are absolutely fabulous. I think you may have inspired me to get out the scraps container for a bit of couch crafting tonight. I’m quite sure that I even have a large embroidery hoop floating about somewhere.
Your wreath looks fabulous.
I’ve also laid eyes on Annie’s and it is extremely impressive as well!
Mine, on the other hand, has flopped like a wet wig attached to the door … I afraid to photograph it because it looks so terrible. Maybe I will … to warn people!
